1810 Volney Road was donated to YNDC in late 2019. The historic home at 1810 Volney was built by Emery McKelvey in 1927 and was later used for decades as a Carmelite monastery and worship center led by Father Richard Madden, an organizer and spiritual leader who fought to keep the monastery open for the people of Youngstown during a time of great social and economic hardship following the collapse of the local steel industry.

On Friday, March 20, the Ruth Beecher Charitable Trust awarded $5,000 to YNDC for improvement of YNDC neighborhood cleanup program facilities and equipment.

Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the Mercy Health Foundation has sidestepped the usual hurdles to approve a $1 million emergency grant to address regular care needs as well as those related to the crisis.

A team of 10 from the AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps is in Youngstown to assist the Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corporation and the city with neighborhood cleanup projects for the next six weeks.
