YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - The city of Youngstown is the recipient of a $60,000 grant to help it take part in a new initiative to improve the health of people living in low-income neighborhoods.

YOUNGSTOWN — Youngstown was selected to be one of 50 mid-sized cities to receive funding to for a “Invest Health” initiative to improve the health of those living in low-income communities.

A former city resident who still loves his hometown is coordinating an effort that will bring about 300 volunteers together to paint the houses of four lower-income senior citizens – one on each side of Youngstown.

Among the life lessons high-school students who participate in Sojourn to the Past learn are the importance of reaching beyond themselves for the greater good and building a deeper sense of community, and working cooperatively with others.

You don't need to be at a museum to see beautiful works of art.
