Youngstown Councilwoman Anita Davis wants to provide a recreation area for her district to give kids something to do.

The last two Saturdays in April are 422 Corridor Community workdays when the Youngstown Warren Regional Chamber asks for volunteers to pitch in and clean up debris and board up vacant houses in the Brier Hill neighborhood and in Girard.

Talmer Bank and Trust will donate $50,000 to Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corp. in support of its efforts to revitalize Youngstown neighborhoods, Mark Wenick, regional president of the bank, announced Monday.

The Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corporation received a donation worth $50,000 from Talmer Bank and Trust.

Community groups from around the Valley are coming together this spring to help paint the homes of some elderly, low-income Youngstown residents.
