Turning blight into bloom is what the Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corporation (YNDC) has been doing for the past eight years.
Wednesday, the organization celebrated a major milestone -- the revitalization of its 100th home. The home is on Rush Boulevard in Youngstown. YNDC gave it new life, refreshing the neighborhood around it. Mary Danus is a neighbor, and she is happy to see the newly-revived home. She said more vacancy wasn't the only thing that this home was attracting. "If a home is vacant and if there's any opening, critters find a home," she said. Danus said unattractive landscape was also an issue, making it a priority for YNDC to fix the home from the inside out. Danus said everyone deserves a comfortable, clean, place to live, complete with a neighborhood welcoming them with open arms. To read the full story from WKBN, click here.
