Ian Beniston is the Executive Director of the Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corporation and reports to YNDC’s Board of Directors. Ian has been a part of the organization since YNDC's initial vision formed in 2008. He began working full time for the organization in June 2009. Ian is responsible for the organization’s consistent achievement of its mission, financial objectives, and day-to-day operations. He has guided nearly $100 million in neighborhood investments to date.
Ian has twenty-one years of experience in community organizing, urban planning, housing, and neighborhood development across the private, non-profit, and public sectors. Ian holds a Master of City and Regional Planning from The Ohio State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Youngstown State University. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners and obtained Housing Development Finance Professional certification from the National Development Council (now known as Grow America).
Ian’s community involvement includes serving on the Board of Directors of the Community Corrections Association and the Ohio Community Development Corporation Association Policy Committee. Ian resides in the City of Youngstown with his wife, Krista, and daughter, Eleanor.
