Work is Moving to Clean up the Old McGuffey Mall Site - WKBN


In July, WKBN reported neighbors’ frustration with the lack of cleanup at the McGuffey Mall site. Now, the site is seeing its first visual change in months.

Nick Chretian, director of planning and development with the Port Authority, said they are now making progress. They received a $100,000 grant from the state to find contamination on the site. As of September, Chretian says all of the contaminants that were found have been removed. Over the next few weeks, the Port Authority is working with the Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corporation to plant trees along the perimeter of the site.
